Installation of structured cabling as part of a 14-site UK-wide office Wi-Fi 6 rollout
Wi-Fi 6 is the latest, superfast Wi-Fi standard, designed to improve efficiency, with speeds up to 4x faster with more capacity than Wi-Fi 5, with the added benefit of stronger guest and password security.
We recently completed a project for a UK-wide High Street Banking Group as part of a wider reconfiguration of offices to create a more flexible and efficient working environment for colleagues returning to the office, either full-time or on a hybrid basis, following Covid-19.
While working on this project, we were also selected as a contractor for additional work to include structured cabling to support occupancy sensors within the ceiling voids as the bank continues to monitor and assess its office estate for all users.
While structured cabling has traditionally been low-level, serving several connections to desks via floor boxes, this migration to high-level cabling, run and installed within the ceiling voids, allows the infrastructure to serve many additional building technologies such as Wi-Fi, sensors, IP cameras, access control, BMS, cellular phone signal improvement systems, room booking systems, and more.
With many of these systems now powered using Power over Ethernet (PoE), this removes the need to install additional electrical cabling, saving installation and maintenance costs, reducing environmental impact.
During this project, we worked directly for the client and acted as design and coordination lead, chairing weekly update meetings, and managing the overall project programme.
